8 Best Hootsuite Alternatives for Scheduling in 2026
The best Hootsuite alternative for a team that mostly schedules posts across several brands is PostWharf. It bills per brand, with unlimited channels, from $15/mo, or $10/mo billed yearly, where Hootsuite's Standard plan is $99 per user/mo, billed annually, for up to 10 social accounts. The right pick shifts with the job. Sendible suits agencies that want unlimited users and client approvals, and Metricool suits organic and ad reporting across several brands. Buffer and Publer offer a free plan with prices that follow your channels, SocialPilot adds client approvals and white-label reports on its higher plans, SocialBee schedules by content category, and Postiz is the one to choose if you want to self-host. Eight tools passed the bar below, and each is described here from its own pricing and feature pages as read on 16 October 2026.

Prices are in USD as each vendor's pricing page showed them on 16 October 2026. Entry prices are for different units (per user, per channel, per workspace, per brand), so read the "Billed by" column before comparing the numbers.
Hootsuite, the baseline
Hootsuite is a social media management platform that combines scheduling with a unified inbox, social listening and analytics, and it bills per user seat. Standard is $99 per user/mo, billed annually, and covers up to 10 social accounts. Professional is $199 per user/mo, billed annually, and allows unlimited social accounts. Advanced is $399 per user/mo, billed annually, and is where post approval workflows begin. Enterprise is custom. There is no free plan, only a 14-day free trial of Standard, Professional and Advanced, no credit card required. Monthly billing exists, but the plans page does not show its rate. Those terms set what this list tests: what you pay as people and accounts are added, what the entry plan caps, and where approvals start.
How we chose these 8
The question. Which tools can replace Hootsuite for social media scheduling, and what does each cost a team? We judged every tool as a scheduler first. Inbox, listening and reporting count only where a tool's published plans include them.
The source. Each tool's own pricing page and feature pages, as recorded in a fact table for the category on 16 October 2026, with the read date next to every price below. We have not run hands-on tests of these tools, so nothing here is a verdict on how a tool feels to use; it is a read of what each vendor publishes. Vendors change prices, so check the pricing page before you buy. Rival facts follow the rules in our guide to SaaS alternatives and comparison pages: dated, sourced, and with an honest section on what each tool lacks.
The bar. Eleven tools were in the fact table besides Hootsuite. An alternative stayed on the list if it passed three tests:
- It publishes to Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and X, because Hootsuite does.
- Its entry plan is not priced per user seat, the model Hootsuite uses.
- Its entry price is published on its own pricing page.
Eight tools passed. Agorapulse, Sprout Social and Later did not, and the section after the list says why.
The order. Tools are ranked first by billing shape, meaning how much the bill depends on people and connected accounts: a price per workspace or brand comes first, then a price per channel or account, then bundles that cap accounts and users. Inside a group the order is an editorial judgment on three things: how many separate charges the published plans add for extra accounts or people, what the entry plan includes beyond publishing (approvals, an inbox, reporting), and how much setup the tool asks of you. It is a judgment on those criteria, not a score.
The 8 alternatives, ranked
1. PostWharf
What it is. PostWharf is a publishing tool built around the brand rather than the channel. You connect the accounts a brand runs, write a post once, adjust the wording for each network, and publish it now or on a schedule to ten networks: Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Telegram. Each brand gets its own workspace with its own channels, drafts, queue and history, and the price follows the workspace with no per-channel fee. After a post goes out it is re-checked, and one delivery row per network shows what arrived; failed deliveries retry on their own and give a reason in a status feed. Posts drafted through an AI assistant wait for your approval before they publish. Every plan includes a REST API, an MCP server and a command-line tool. It leads this list because its entry price covers unlimited channels for a brand, with no per-channel fee; its trade-off is under "Where it falls short" below, which is why it is the pick for scheduling-first teams rather than for every team.
Best for: running several brands without paying for each connected channel; posting from Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant through MCP; sending posts from scripts, Zapier, Make or n8n; checking which networks actually received each post.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). Starter is $15/mo, or $10/mo billed yearly, for 1 workspace, unlimited channels and 200 scheduled posts a month. Startup is $29/mo, or $23/mo billed yearly, for 3 workspaces and 400 scheduled posts a month. Plus is $67/mo, or $54/mo billed yearly, for 10 workspaces and 1,000 scheduled posts a month. Pro is $99/mo, or $79/mo billed yearly, for unlimited workspaces and 2,500 scheduled posts a month. There is a 7-day free trial of Starter, and the card is charged when the trial ends. Source: PostWharf's pricing page.
Where it falls short. It is a publishing tool first: its pages do not describe analytics reports or a social inbox for replies, so a team that leans on Hootsuite's inbox or reporting needs another tool for those. Scheduled posts are capped each month, from 200 on Starter to 2,500 on Pro. Reddit, Discord, Snapchat and WordPress are available on request only and cannot be connected yet. There is no free plan.
2. Sendible
What it is. Sendible is a social media management tool for agencies and multi-location brands. It schedules posts to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Google Business Profile, with a shared inbox, client approvals and reports. Pricing is by workspace, each holding 6 social profiles, and every plan includes unlimited users. Workspaces keep each client's or location's profiles, calendar, inbox and reports separate, and its Client Connect feature lets clients link their own profiles without sharing passwords.
Best for: agencies managing many clients that need separate workspaces and client approvals; teams with many users who want to avoid per-seat pricing; multi-location brands posting to Google Business Profile listings.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). Core is $35/mo, or $30/mo billed yearly, for 1 workspace, 6 social profiles and unlimited users, and each extra workspace adds $35/mo on Core. Plus is $99/mo, or $84/mo billed yearly, for 3 workspaces and 18 social profiles, and adds assignment and approval workflows. At the top, Enterprise is $750/mo, or $638/mo billed yearly, for 50 workspaces and 300 social profiles. There is a 14-day free trial, no card required. Source: Sendible's pricing page.
Where it falls short. More profiles mean buying more workspaces, since Core covers one workspace of 6 profiles. Approval workflows start on Plus at $99/mo. White label is a paid add-on on its two top plans only. Pinterest is not in its supported networks, its API currently supports only SSO integration, and no MCP server is mentioned. There is no free plan.
3. Metricool
What it is. Metricool is a social media planning and analytics tool for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and X, with reporting on Meta, Google and TikTok ads. Plans are tiered by the number of brands, and each brand holds one profile per network. It adds a planner with best times to post, an inbox for messages, competitor analysis, and a Metricool MCP server on every plan, including Free.
Best for: agencies and freelancers managing several client brands on one plan; combining organic social and ad reporting in one dashboard; connecting an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to social data through MCP; small businesses starting on a free plan.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). The Free plan is $0 for 1 brand, all networks except LinkedIn and X/Twitter, 20 scheduled posts per month, 5 competitor profiles and 30 days of analytics. Starter is from $25/mo, or $20/mo billed annually, for up to 5 brands, or $45/mo for 10 brands. Advanced is from $67/mo, or $53/mo billed annually, for 15 brands, and adds post approvals and the API. X/Twitter is an add-on on Starter and above, at $10 a month per connected account. Source: Metricool's pricing page.
Where it falls short. The X add-on, billed per connected account at $10 a month (or $120 a year), adds up for a team that posts to X on many brands. The Free plan excludes LinkedIn and X and caps scheduling at 20 posts a month. Approvals, team roles and the API need Advanced. The pricing page lists no standard free trial.
4. Buffer
What it is. Buffer is a scheduling tool for publishing, analytics and comment replies across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Google Business Profile and Substack. It has a posting queue, a visual calendar, an ideas board, an AI assistant for writing posts, and a Start Page link-in-bio builder. Pricing is per connected channel, with a free plan for 3 channels. A public API and an MCP server for AI tools come with every plan, including Free.
Best for: creators and small businesses managing a few channels on a budget; teams that need approval workflows without per-user fees; agencies that want to pay per channel rather than per brand or client; scheduling posts from AI assistants through the MCP server or API.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). The Free plan is $0 for up to 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time, 100 ideas, 1 user and 30 days of insights. Essentials is $6 per channel/mo, or $5 per channel/mo billed yearly, with unlimited scheduled posts and 1 user. Team is $12 per channel/mo, or $10 per channel/mo billed yearly, and adds unlimited team members, approval workflows, access levels and branded reports. There is a 14-day free trial of Essentials and Team. Source: Buffer's pricing page.
Where it falls short. The bill follows the channel count, and after upgrading, the 3 channels that were free are billed too. Approval workflows and access levels need the Team plan, and Essentials includes 1 user. Instagram personal profiles and Facebook groups get reminder notifications only, not automatic publishing.
5. Publer
What it is. Publer is a scheduling tool for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Threads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram and WordPress. It offers bulk scheduling of up to 500 posts, including from a CSV file, a calendar, recurring posts and evergreen recycling, thread and first-comment scheduling, workspaces with member roles and approval workflows, analytics and an AI assistant. Paid plans are priced per connected social account, plus a monthly fee for each additional team member.
Best for: solo creators and small businesses paying only for the accounts they connect; bulk scheduling and recycling evergreen content; agencies managing client workspaces with approvals; scheduling threads on X, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). The Free plan is $0 for 1 user, 1 workspace, 3 social accounts (no X/Twitter), 10 scheduled posts per account, 25 saved drafts and 24-hour post history. Professional is $5/mo, or $4/mo billed yearly, for 1 social account; 3 accounts cost $12/mo, 5 accounts cost $20/mo, and extra members are $2/mo each. Business is $10/mo, or $8/mo billed yearly, for 1 social account; 3 accounts cost $21/mo, 5 accounts cost $35/mo, extra members are $3/mo each, and it adds analytics and reports, unlimited AI prompts, the API and MCP. There is a 7-day free trial of Professional and a 14-day free trial of Business. Source: Publer's plans page.
Where it falls short. Cost grows with every profile and every extra member. The Free plan has no X/Twitter, caps scheduling at 10 posts per account and keeps only 24-hour post history. Analytics, unlimited AI prompts, the API and MCP all need Business. Daily posting limits per profile apply, and unlimited daily posting is an Enterprise feature.
6. SocialPilot
What it is. SocialPilot is a social media management tool for agencies and small businesses. It schedules posts to ten networks, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and Bluesky, and adds a social inbox, analytics, client approvals and white-label reports on higher plans. Plans are priced by the number of social accounts and users. An MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools is included on every plan.
Best for: agencies managing client accounts with client approvals and white-label reports; small teams that want scheduling, a shared inbox and analytics in one tool; scheduling posts from Claude or ChatGPT through the MCP server.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). Essentials is $30/mo, or $25.50/mo billed annually, for 7 social accounts and 1 user. Standard is $50/mo, or $42.50/mo billed annually, for 15 social accounts and 3 users, and adds the social inbox, analytics and manager approval. Premium is $100/mo, or $85/mo billed annually, for 25 social accounts and 6 users, and adds bulk scheduling, client approval and white-label reports. Extra accounts cost $4 a month each. There is a 14-day free trial, no credit card required. Source: SocialPilot's plans page.
Where it falls short. There is no free plan, only the trial. Essentials has no analytics, social inbox or approvals, and bulk scheduling and CSV upload start on Premium. API access is only on the Enterprise plan.
7. SocialBee
What it is. SocialBee schedules posts by content category to ten networks, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and Bluesky, and sends mobile reminders for networks without direct posting, such as WhatsApp and Telegram. It adds AI content generation, analytics, an engagement inbox, recycling of evergreen posts and workspaces with post approval. Plans are priced by social profiles, users and workspaces.
Best for: recycling evergreen content on a category-based schedule; freelancers and small businesses managing a handful of profiles; agencies that need a separate workspace per client; reminders for networks without direct publishing.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). Bootstrap is $29/mo, or $290/yr billed annually, for 5 social profiles, 1 user and 1 workspace. Accelerate is $49/mo, or $490/yr billed annually, for 10 social profiles, and adds advanced analytics, the bulk editor, CSV uploads and post approval. Pro is $99/mo, or $990/yr billed annually, for 25 social profiles, 3 users per workspace and 5 workspaces. Extra users and workspaces cost $10 a month each, and 5 more profiles cost $15 a month. There is a 14-day free trial, no credit card required, and posting stops when it ends. Source: SocialBee's pricing page.
Where it falls short. There is no free plan. Bootstrap lacks advanced analytics, the bulk editor, CSV uploads and post approval, and keeps 3 months of analytics. Its pages do not describe a public API or an MCP server, so automation runs through Zapier, Make or Pabbly.
8. Postiz
What it is. Postiz is an open-source social media scheduler that publishes to 34 platforms, including X, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Discord and Bluesky. AI agents can drive it through its MCP server, command-line tool and public API, and webhooks come with every plan too. Hosted plans are priced by connected channels, from 5 on Standard to 100 on Ultimate, with unlimited posts. The AGPL-3.0 code can also be self-hosted for free.
Best for: teams that want to self-host their scheduler; scheduling posts from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or other AI agents through MCP or the command line; posting to community and developer channels such as Reddit, Discord, Slack, Dev.to and Mastodon; automating posts from n8n, Make or your own code through the API.
What it costs (read 16 October 2026). The self-hosted open-source version is $0. Hosted Standard is $29/mo, or $23/mo billed yearly, for 5 channels, unlimited posts and no team members. Team is $39/mo, or $31/mo billed yearly, for 10 channels and unlimited team members. Pro is $49/mo, or $39/mo billed yearly, for 30 channels. Ultimate is $99/mo, or $79/mo billed yearly, for 100 channels. Every hosted plan has a 7-day free trial; a card is required and checked with a small authorisation. Source: Postiz's pricing page.
Where it falls short. There is no free hosted plan, and the trial needs a card. Standard covers 5 channels and has no team members. Self-hosting means registering your own developer app with most networks, which can take weeks for Meta, YouTube and TikTok. Annual plans are not refundable.
Also considered, and why they are not ranked
Three tools in the fact table did not pass the bar. Each is a reasonable choice for a different job.
- Agorapulse is priced per user: Standard is $99/user/mo, or $79/user/mo billed annually, with 10 social profiles shared across users and extra profiles priced separately. It fails test 2. It suits teams that spend much of their time replying to comments, messages and reviews. Source: Agorapulse's pricing page.
- Sprout Social is priced per seat: Essentials is $99 per seat/mo, or $79 per seat/mo billed annually, with 5 social profiles, and the social inbox starts on Standard. It fails test 2. It suits social teams that need a shared inbox, approvals and case management. Source: Sprout Social's pricing page.
- Later is a visual planner priced by social sets: Starter is $25/mo, or $18.75/mo billed yearly, for 1 social set (8 profiles) and 1 user. Its supported networks do not include X, Bluesky or Google Business Profile, so it fails test 1. It suits Instagram- and TikTok-focused brands that plan content visually. Source: Later's pricing page.
Choosing between them
Start from how your bill would grow. If you run several brands and your headcount keeps changing, a price per workspace or brand (PostWharf, Sendible, Metricool) ties the bill to brands instead of seats. If you manage a few channels, a per-channel or per-account price (Buffer, Publer) is easy to forecast, and each has a free plan to try. If you want accounts and users bundled, SocialPilot and SocialBee set the caps up front. And if you have the engineering time and want to own the stack, Postiz lets you self-host.
If you sell software and want your product named on lists like this one, read how to get your SaaS featured in the lists AI engines quote. To see whether your brand shows up when a buyer asks an AI engine, start with how to measure brand visibility in ChatGPT and AI answers. When you want a second pair of eyes on where your category stands, book a 30-minute call and we will show you what the engines currently say when a buyer asks for a recommendation, under published pricing and with no annual lock-in.
